This has been an amazing week. We have been aggressively promoting our FaceBook Fan Page with very simple ad links and the results have been great. I am deliberately not pushing our main site to the fans there but rather have encouraged open contribution. I trust that this honest approach will allow fans to become members of the main site when and if it makes sense for them. That is the main spirit of Facebook and I intend to uphold that paradigm.
The main site will grow on its own as we complete work with writing staff and new content partners but the thoughts and comments of our fans have given me some great direction. Posts have touched on many things such as:
- Separation of twins onto different classes in school
- Birth weight and other measures that are unique to parents of twins
- How we parents manage and respond to well-meaning but silly questions about the twins
- The anticipation of the birth of twins
- General amazement related to the growth and development of twins
- DNA testing for identification of identicals
- Lots of excitement related to the coming of the holidays
It is important to understand that this site is a business for us. We are growing it somewhat organically using customary internet marketing tactics. We have also decided to depend on the input from our current and potential members to chart the direction of the site. We are involved with this for the long term and this direction should give us some longevity that will be of value to our paying members. It does cost money to market and to develop exclusive content that members will appreciate so that is the underpinning of the decision to become a membership supported business. Thanks to all for your understanding of that set of goals and principles.
With a rapidly growing fan base of almost 500 fans here are some interesting statistics.
- 7% male and 93% female fans
- Youngest Fan - under 17 (Facebok Stat)
- Oldest Fan - 66 (self reported)
- Posts have been 5 star according to Facebook. This is a rating of quality interaction between the fans.
We look forward to sharing more details as we get them - confidentially and annonymously of course. Coming soon is a great article on sibling rivalry and another on illness. We should have these posted in a day or so. We hope your twin filled weekend will be relaxing and fun.
